The Grand Elliptathon 2008

Okay, so I add one more thing to my “envy” list.

I envy you if you can run marathons. I want to run a marathon. I have the desire. I have the will-power. But I just don’t have the knees.

My friends Heather and Jenelle are signed up for the St. George marathon. My BFF Dana just told me that she is training for the half marathon. I am so proud of them but…

uhnch!

I want to run one too!

So I’ve decided. I’m running an elliptathon. 26 miles on the elliptical trainer. Ryan is joining me in this conquest. We will be training for the next month and a half and running the elliptathon side by side by the first of June. I realize that an elliptathon is nowhere near the beast that a real marathon is, but an accomplishment nonetheless. Do you want to run an elliptathon, too?

Great idea! Why is it that every time I make a serious decision to get back on track with a workout schedule I get sick? It's a really mean trick.

Wow - how long do you think that will take? I would love to run one, but I am seriously, seriously, seriously out of shape! It would take me at least 6 months to prepare for such a thing!
You need to start thinking about what you are going to want to watch on TV while you're running. Instead of being the one on the sideline handing you cups of water and towels, I could change out the DVD for you! :)

Hi Bethany! I think the elliptathon is a great idea! I also have bad knees, but I would love to join you and Ryan in your quest. However, I'm in CO right now (helping with Danni's pregnancy complications - she's in the hospital until she delivers), so I won't be able to start training until June 1. I'm going to run my elliptathon on my birthday, August 24th. I'll start my training on YOUR DAY, though, in celebration of your big event! Love you guys!

That's the only way you'd get me to run 26 miles. I have absolutely no desire to ever punish my body that way--ever! How about you challenge me to eat 26 donuts in one day or something more my speed?

The elliptical trainer always seems harder than running. Probably because I'm not used to it. I bet this'll be a pretty tough goal to finish, and I wish you luck!

I think I"d rather do an eliptithon than this half marathon! Then I'd get to watch tv and get my mind off of things! What a great idea!

I guess this would mean that I would actually have to workout ... :) Which truly is the plan after baby #2 is born.
