It wasn’t until after the brutal attack that I read the sign. I was bloodied, bruised, and broken, but the most serious injury incurred to my feelings. I will never be able to look at a squirrel kindly again. Nor will I ever be able “Remember the Alamo” without considering the squirrel that punctured my index finger after I selflessly offered it a goldfish cracker. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
Other than the unpleasant squirrel incident our trip to San Antonio was a success. We visited the Riverwalk downtown which was spectacular and oh-so-romantic. I didn’t realize that anything so cool existed in the Texas. Beautiful old buildings and character-rich restaurants framed a wide man-channeled river. Huge hundred-year-old trees jutted out of the water and along side the interesting paved walkways. The walk was landscaped so brilliantly that I felt like I was in another world.
Doug was in particularly good form as we boat toured down the river and strolled alongside the festive shops. He waved at all the passer-bys and if he was truly aiming to impress he would “mark it with a ‘D’” for them (this behavior is what I like to call Random Senseless Acts of Patty Cake).
The next day we were scheduled to go to Sea World, but Mother Nature, probably in her fury against misbehaving squirrels, decided to send a rain storm instead. We sadly had to cut our trip short. We stopped at Burger King on the way home. After chicken nuggets and whoppers Doug fast-tracked it to the indoor playroom. Let me tell you, he had the time of his life. Who needs Sea World anyhow?

Oh no I knew that the squirel had damaged your physical being but I had no idea that his fury had penetrated to your feelings.
I hope that with time and the tender love of your husband that both your hand and, most important, your feelings heal. I had a wonderful time with you and fell further in love with you on our trip. Thank you
P.S. I hope you read the word feelings with the proper high pitch squill.
WOW those pictures are beautiful. They look like Neverland. I can't WAIT to see you guys in...just over three weeks!
So pretty! We only did the riverwalk at night, so it was gorgeous in an entirely different way. Glad you had such a good time!
